The Bimhuisis was located on the Oude Schans and was founded in 1974 as a stage for Jazz and improvised music. 

In 2005 the Bimhuis relocated and partly integrated into the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ.

The Muziekgebouw is the most important concert hall for contemporary classical music 

The Muziekgebouw was designed by the Danish architectural firm 3xNielsen (3XN).
