The house with the gnomes was built in 1884. 

And was designed by the architect Anthonius Cornelus Boerma (1852-1908). 

The building is built in a mixture of Gothic and "chalet" style. 

It consists of 3 buildings and is 27 meters wide and 17 meters high. 

The facade is decorated with fantasy figures of gnomes, cherubs (putti) and eagles. 

On the roof are two huge wooden gnomes (2.5 meters high). 

The right gnome (house no. 255) is about to throw a red ball to the other gnome (house no. 251). 

The gnomes are said to throw the ball around midnight, on New Year's Eve or only in a leap year. 

But no one has ever seen this yet.
