On the corner of the Spooksteeg with a view to the Oudezijds Achterburgwal and Vredenburgh.
This is one of the oldest parts of the city with a rich history.
Since 1753 you can hear the cries of damned Helena, who kill her sister Diane for a loved one.
The alley was named 'Ghost Alley' in 1855 because, according to myth, the ghost of Helena still wanders and wails there.
On the other side of the water is 'Vredenburg' a collection of separate medieval houses.
In the course of time a: brewery, lodge, Catholic hidden church, and a civilian old women's home have been established here.
Until it was squatted in 1979 and renovated with the help of a housing company.
Today it is a work and practice space for young artists and a dance studio.
